In the heart of Empordà, surrounded by open fields and the gentle breeze coming in from the sea, Emporarom’s aromatic fields unfold like a small sensory world where the landscape can almost be breathed in. Just a short distance from Empúries and its iconic ruins, this space brings together nature, history, and gastronomy in a privileged setting where time seems to slow down.
Early in the morning, when the light is still soft, the air fills with delicate fragrances: lavender, rosemary, thyme, mint… Scents that not only perfume the surroundings but also evoke ancient traditions and local knowledge. Walking through these fields is a शांत, almost meditative experience, where every step invites you to pause, look, touch, and smell.
Emporarom was created with the aim of recovering traditional knowledge of aromatic and medicinal plants and bringing it into the present through products like herbal infusions and culinary blends, crafted by hand and following ecological principles. Their infusions—often inspired by Greco-Roman mythology—and cooking blends connect the landscape directly with flavor, turning every cup or dish into a small expression of Empordà.
Beyond the products, the space offers a range of experiences that allow visitors to engage with the land through all their senses. There are botanical walks to learn about the plants and their properties, as well as tasting sessions where new aromas, flavors, and benefits are discovered. Other activities include aromatic vermouth experiences, combining a walk through the fields with tapas made from these plants, as well as more playful options like making mojitos with fresh mint or workshops to create your own ratafia.
This experiential and educational approach reinforces a way of relating to nature based on respect and closeness. The plants grow at their own pace, in small plots, with careful, hands-on attention that can be felt both in the landscape and in the final products.
Next to the ruins of Empúries, the project takes on even deeper meaning: a land that was once a meeting point of cultures continues today to connect people, flavors, and knowledge. Visiting Emporarom is much more than a walk among plants—it’s an invitation to rediscover Empordà from its roots, slowly, mindfully, and with all your senses open.
