The castle of Solius, formerly known as the rock castle, was built between the end of the 12th century and the beginning of the 13th. After having been the property of several feudal lords, in 1231 it became the property of the main sacristy of Girona Cathedral, which retained ownership until 1855. Beyond its military function, the castle was the center from which the territory included in the term of Solius, which was under his authority, was administered and governed. During the war of Remences it remained under the control of the revolted farmers.
