MUSEU DEL JOGUET

Toys, memory and childhood

Some museums take you through space; others take you through time. The Museu del Joguet de Catalunya does both at once — with a collection of nearly 4,000 pieces housed in the historic Casa Terradas, a building dating from 1767 in the heart of Figueres.

Spinning tops, Meccano sets, puppet theatres, dolls, trains, robots, tricycles, magic sets — the collection traces the history of the toy in Catalonia from its origins to the present day, organised into five thematic sections. Each piece comes with its own explanatory card and, in some cases, texts by well-known figures reflecting on specific toys. One of the museum's most memorable sights is the monumental Eiffel Tower built entirely from Meccano pieces, which presides over the central staircase.

A museum that connects generations: children discover, adults remember. For families travelling together, it is one of the most complete and moving visits in Figueres.
